Does Semnia upload my screenshots anywhere?

No. There is no server to upload to. Reading the text, searching, and matching links all happen on your phone. Semnia itself needs no internet — the only thing that does is opening a page you tapped.

What's free, and what does it cost?

Everything works on your newest 500 screenshots, free — search, page links, topics, cards, the archive. One purchase — €9.99 — unlocks your whole library. No subscription, no ads.

What is a card?

A set you saved. Pick a few screenshots, put them on one page, give it a name — the card stays in the app: reopen it, share it again, add to it. It remembers which screenshots, not a flat picture, so a shot you crop later, or one that gains a link, shows up updated the next time you open the card. To change what is in it, open the card, choose Edit collage, and use + to bring more screenshots in or tap one to take it out; the bookmark saves the change. You can also start from the grid: pick the new screenshots, tap Collage, then the bookmark — and choose the card.

Do I have to change how I take screenshots?

No. Take them as you always do. Next time you open Semnia, it reads what's new.

Why does one screenshot open its page and another not?

A link is attached only when there is real evidence: Safari (with the extension on) or the app's own browser saw that page around the moment you shot it. A green dot opens the exact page, a grey dot the site. No dot, no guess — the screenshot itself is always the record.

Which browsers get links?

Safari — the only browser iOS allows extensions in — and the app's built-in browser, which needs no setup. Screenshots from Chrome, Instagram, TikTok or any other app get no page link; they are still read, searchable, and usable in topics and cards. Parcel notifications are the one exception — see below.

Which couriers get parcel links?

A screenshot of a courier's message — an SMS, a mail, a shop's own app — becomes a link to that parcel's page whenever Semnia can read both the courier and the tracking number off the picture. No extension is involved and it works from any app.

Semnia covers the major couriers — across Europe, the United States, Japan and Australia — and new ones are added all the time. Using a courier Semnia doesn't link yet? Write to support@semnia.com with the courier's name and, if you can, a screenshot of one of its messages — that is exactly what a new courier is built from.

Where a tracking number carries a check digit — most US and UK formats do — a number that fails it is left alone. That is what keeps a fake delivery text from turning into a link.

My screenshot has several parcels — can I open each one?

Yes. A courier thread often holds a whole month of deliveries in one picture. Open the screenshot and tap the find-links button: the shot dims and every tracking number on it lights up, so you can tap the one you want. Links the courier wrote into the message light up the same way.

What happens when I change phones?

Settings → Archive gives you one file with everything the reading earned — text, links, topics, cards, crop lines — plus the few pictures whose originals are no longer in Photos. Move it to the new phone (AirDrop works) and import: the library reconnects instead of starting over. A normal iCloud or Quick Start transfer also carries the whole app.

How long does the first read take?

It scales with the library: measured, 3,300 screenshots in about 19 minutes on a recent iPhone. It reads newest first — this week's screenshots are searchable within the first minute — and the app stays fully usable while it runs. Leaving pauses it; opening the app resumes. It happens once.

I'm on cellular — will it use my data?

Screenshots already on the phone are read immediately, no network needed. Originals stored only in iCloud wait for Wi-Fi by default; one tap overrides that.

Which languages can it read?

Apple's on-device recognition. The script decides, not the language: Latin, Cyrillic, Arabic, Devanagari, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai are covered; Hebrew, Greek and several other scripts are not readable on today's iOS. The app shows the exact list your device supports. Search finds words anywhere in a line, in every covered script.

Can I add my own words to a screenshot?

Yes. Swipe up on a screenshot to open its details, and add any keywords you like — a name, an occasion, who a gift is for. Search finds the screenshot by them, alongside the words already in the picture. They stay on your phone like everything else, and they ride the archive, so a restore brings them back.

Can I make everything from one site file itself?

Yes. Open Topics, swipe the topic right and tap Sites: every website those screenshots came from is listed, with how many more you have from each. Swipe a site right and tap Add — every screenshot you have from it goes into the topic, and new ones file themselves from then on. Swipe left instead to send a site back out, or to undo one you added.

Does it change or delete my photos?

Never. It only reads. Semnia keeps its own optimized copies — about 200 KB per screenshot — inside the app; your Photos library is untouched.

Is my library backed up?

It rides your normal iCloud or computer backup like any app, and the archive is the copy you carry yourself. There is no Semnia cloud — that is the point.

Which devices?

iPhone, iOS 26.0 or later. It installs on an iPad too and runs there in iPhone mode — the layout is built for the phone.
