Semnia

Screenshots that take you back to the page.

Tap one you took in Safari and the page opens again, where you were reading. They sort themselves into topics. Share a few and the links travel with them.

What it does

Takes you back to the page

A tap on a Safari screenshot reopens it where you shot it. A green dot means that exact page, a grey one means the site.

Follows your parcels

Screenshot the courier's text and it becomes a link to that parcel's page.

Sorts itself

Recipes, orders, parcels, shopping… and topics you make yourself. Narrow by day, by site, by topic, by whether a shot has a link — and they stack, with each other and with whatever you type.

Sends the links with the pictures

Put several shots on one page and share it: in the PDF, a screenshot that has a link keeps it. Save that page as a card and it stays yours — reopen it, share it again, add to it or take one out.

Searches the words inside them

As you type, across the whole library — a word from the middle of the page, in any script your iPhone can read, or the site a shot came from. Add your own keywords to a screenshot and it answers to those as well.

Keeps its own copies

Your screenshots stay usable here even after you clear them out of Photos — about 200 KB each.

It all happens on the phone

Reading, searching and remembering which page a shot came from all happen on the phone. Opening that page is the one thing that needs the internet — it lives on the web, not in Semnia.

How it works

  • Take screenshots the way you already do. Nothing to change, no button to press, no capture step of its own.
  • Open Semnia and it reads what's new. Apple's on-device text recognition, right there on the phone — no upload, no queue, no account.
  • Tap a Safari screenshot to go back. With the Semnia extension on, the page opens again at the part you were reading.
  • A screenshot of a parcel text works too. The courier's name and the tracking number are read off the picture itself, so the screenshot opens that parcel's page — no extension involved.
  • Or type anything you remember. The whole library answers as you type, including the words in the pictures.
  • Add your own words to any screenshot. Swipe up on one to see what Semnia has on it — the link, and the text it read out of the picture — and add the keywords you would actually search for. The ones the picture never says: who a gift is for, which trip it belongs to, why you kept it.

Privacy

No account. No cloud. No server of its own. The reading, the search, the topics and the links are all worked out on your phone, and nothing is ever uploaded.

The only pages Semnia loads are the ones you tap, plus Apple's purchase sheet if you buy the unlock — and nothing about you goes out with either. Read the full privacy policy ›
